Who we are and where we are There is also a short history of how we got to where we are now since our founding in 1931. There are pictures of our most recent move in 2007 to our current venue. As a charity, we are entirely volunteer run. We gratefully acknowledge support from the University of Southampton. We are a member of the British Federation of Film Societies. The films are shown in the Lecture Theatre (Room 1015) in Building 32, University Road in the heart of the University of Southampton main Highfield Campus (see map below). Note that the parking is shared with the other arts venues on campus (Nuffield Theatre and Turner Sims concert hall). Please note that only the SOUTH entrance to Building 32 will be open for access. The door will be open at 7.15pm and will be LOCKED at 8pm when the film is scheduled to start. Members may use the Arlott Bar in the Staff Social Centre, Building 38 opposite the Library for refreshments and meals before the showings. The service is available from 6.30pm. If you are not a member of the University of Southampton you will need to show your Phoenix membership card for you and any guests to be admitted. Applications for membership can be dealt with before showings. However, please allow enough time so that the film can start at 8pm promptly without disturbance to others.
