Who we are and where we are

Southampton Film Theatre is a company limited by guarantee incoporated in 1978 in England 1383708 with Memorandum and Articles of Association and also a Charity Commission registered charity 276825. We are commonly known as 'The Phoenix'. Our 2008/9 Annual Report formally explains what we do.

There is also a short history of how we got to where we are now since our founding in 1931.We also have a catalogue of sorted lists (pdf 200k) of all the films we have shown in the last decade giving the dates shown and the audience rating (where known).

From 2010/11 we will be operating in association with Union Films at Southampton University Students Union.

As a charity, we are entirely volunteer run. We gratefully acknowledge support from the University of Southampton and Union Films.

We are a member of the British Federation of Film Societies.
